We are so proud of our Executive Chef Conor Spacey playing a part in the chefsmanifesto , promotiong sustainable food practices that can end world hunger!
From The SDG2 Advocacy Hub:
The SDG2 Advocacy Hubaims to build a community of chefs around the world, equipped with a simple set of actions to drive progress against the food issues that matter most to them. Working together we can help deliver a better food system for all.
Over the last month, 100+ chefs from 36 countries told us which issues they were most passionate about tackling.
These were grouped into 8 THEMATIC AREAS:
1. Ingredients grown with respect for the earth and its oceans
2. Protection of biodiversity and improved animal welfare.
3. Investment in sustainable agriculture and farmer livelihoods.
4. No food loss or waste
5. Celebration of local, seasonal food
6. A focus on plant-based ingredients
7. Education on food safety, healthy diets and nutritious cooking
8. Nutritious food that is accessible and affordable for all
The next step is to create simple ACTIONS that sit under the THEMATIC AREAS and provide a practical guide that chefs can use to deliver change through their kitchens, classrooms and communities. Over the next few months we will be working with chefs to develop these ACTIONS – ensuring that they are relevant whether you work in a restaurant, soup kitchen or school canteen.
Chefs are already leading a lot of great activity around food issues. Through our community we also want to profile some of this work, share learnings and best practice and empower chefs everywhere to be SDG2 advocates.
